Arrived in China in the afternoon. Only got to use my dad's laptop to have internet access via wireless LAN here. It's not as bad a Third World country as we think, it's quite a pleasant place to be in.

Current location, dad's place at Nanjing. What a day we had here. Didn't take any photos since our camera is battery dead.

First, the plane ride. It's superb. SIA's services are top for a reason. There's movies on the ride!! Yup, a small LCD screen for each seat, even though it's only economy class. I watched Sky High, quite a nice show, while others includes GOAL!, which I watched too, the upcoming Wallace and Grommit show, Seven Swords, etc... The flight attendants are so enthusiastic that they'll give you anything you want!

In the plane, I sat in the left side of the plane, middle of 3 seats. To my left is my second eldest brother, and to my right is a Japanese guy by the name of Ino Hiroaki. I didn't talk to the japanese guy much, but he's a businessman who is cheerful and quite glued to his laptop. Didn't bother him, but me and my brother discussed whether to converse with him in Japanese Basics, at least he knows.Our row is 38, my favourite number! It's computer picked, so I didn't choose it. In case you're not sure where's 38, it's right in the middle, next to the left wing of the plane. Before landing, saw the yellow river, it's so cool to see it from an aerial perspective.

First mishap happened after we got off the plane. Our large baggage which is to be put in the baggage compartment was missing. We can't claim it. They said it may be stolen or just misplaced. Anyway, our clothes are all inside, so we can't do much. Dad's clothes came in handy for today, as we wore them(me and my 2 elder brothers) to shop for clothes today. Were given a RMB400 for compensation, a small sum though, and our baggage insurance ensues if it really didn't return. Take the RMB divided by 5, it's approximately the SingDollar. So the 400 given is barely enough.

The traffic lanes here are different, the left side of the traffic is the oncoming one, while in Singapore it's at the right. The driver's seat is also on the left of the car. Took a bit of adaption to remember which side of the road to look at first before you cross. Traffic's over here is almost pathetic. Cars zoom pass red lights and nothing was even done, all my dad could do is honk the horn, and the cars will then slowly move, get out of the way, even when they're moved against the traffic flow! Quite a fun trip from the airport, saw JURONG, when it's Ju(zao ju as in sentence forming) and Rong(rong yi as in easy). Also passed Tangshan area, yeah, the earthquake zone where hundreds of thousands of people died years and years ago. The area here now is just rice plains, and it's winter so no cultivation is taking place. The whole area is plain light brown in colour.

Ate a ASEAN lunch here in Nanjing, first meal here. It's quite nice, the owner of the restaurant is from Kuala Lumpur, and my mum and dad knew her personally from previous trips. Had our only conversation in English here in China with someone outside our family. She's friendly and had moved to China about 6 months ago, while her kids remained in Malaysia while currently with her for vacation. Her children, a son of my age and a daughter of a year younger, both spoke in english I never heard before from someone who studied in Malaysia. If her mum never told us that her children are studying in Malaysia, I would have Singapore education in my mind.

After the meal, shopped. Shopped till just now return to our China home, and then used internet.

It's very very cold here. Went below zero in the late evening, and we wore layers and layers of clothing with a super think jacket, even in the shopping malls. Normally around 15 poeple could squeeze into a lift over here, while now it could barely hold 10.

Can't access my blog site now due to internet connectivity problems. So I hoped this post appear. Let me see, my requests for shopping.

Ruiming, your little red book will be bought in Shanghai somewhere, that's no big deal. Nicole, can't get hold of your snacks yet, Don't worry, will find de. Malls here are as big as Carrefour or Giant. There's no NTUC size marts. Tse Ruey, can't find yor CD also, the 2 malls also don't have, but if have will help you get. As for the people whom I promised souvenirs, it'll have to wait. Can't find anything suitable for now.
